BioNEST-IASST hosted a transformative one-day workshop on sustainable livelihood with mushroom cultivation on Aug 8, 2023. The workshop witnessed active engagement from students and entrepreneurs across the region. The expert talk and training sessions were led by esteemed experts from the Mushroom Development Foundation (MDF), Guwahati.

Prof. Ashis K. Mukherjee, Director of IASST, inaugurated the session and emphasized the potential of mushrooms not only as a nutritional powerhouse but also as a high-value-added food with commercial value. The expert talk and training sessions were led by Pranjal Boruah, General Secre., Barsha Kalita, Project Coordinator, and Rajib Kakoti, Technical Officer from the Mushroom Development Foundation who outlined the key objectives of the workshop including a hands-on-training session in the mushroom cultivation process.

The workshop aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required for mushroom cultivation, while shedding light on the numerous benefits of mushrooms as a superfood.
