International Women's Day on 8th March 2021
BioNest-IASST in association with Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology celebrated the International Women’s Day first time via virtual mode on 8th March 2021, Monday between 2 pm to 4:30 pm. This year, the theme for International Women’s Day is #Choose To Challenge, which encourages women to challenge whatever is holding them back. From defying gender norms, encouraging people to rethink stereotypes and promoting equality. It indicates that a “challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change.” There were two sessions, first by BioNEST-IASST on “Success Stories of Women Entrepreneurs & their Journey” and the second session was a “Panel Discussion on STI: Empowering women in Science”. The session was inaugurated by The Director, IASST and mentioned that the IASST was inaugurated in 1979 by Nobel Laureate Prof. Dorothy Hodgkin and also spearheaded under the first women director Prof. Joyanti Chutia, when it was taken over by DST, Govt. of India.
