BioNEST-IASST Illuminates National Technology Day with Insights on Waste Management Innovations


Guwahati, May 13, 2024 - In celebration of National Technology Day and conjunction with Swachhata Pakhwada, BioNEST-IASST organized a compelling lecture session reflecting on India’s advancements in technology. The event provided a platform for insightful discussions on technological progress and innovations.

Dr. Tania Paul, Manager at BioNEST-IASST incubation center, commenced the session with a warm welcome address. Following her remarks, Prof. Devasish Choudhury, Faculty In-charge, Bionest-IASST highlighted the importance of science and technology that will help make India  a global leader in innovation and technology and the pivotal role played by IASST, Guwahati in promotion of science and technology in North-East region.

The highlight of the session was the keynote address delivered by Prof. Dr. Ajay Kalamdhad, an esteemed figure in Environmental Engineering from the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati. Dr. Kalamdhad's thought-provoking talk, titled "Centralized Versus Decentralized Technologies for Biodegradable MSW Treatment," delved into the intricacies of waste management practices, particularly focusing on the current scenario in Assam. With insightful analysis, he presented potential technological solutions to address the challenges faced in waste management.
